Introduce a federal carbon tax to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save the climate

Introduce a federal carbon tax to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save the climate
The Issue
We ask that a carbon tax be implemented to mitigate the urgent risks of climate change. A carbon tax will make green products financially more appealing and will reduce emissions. To reduce the financial burden for low and middle-income households, a small cash transfer that should be paid out to all American citizens from the tax earnings on at least 80% of their purchases. For example, get a small tax refund in 10 out of 12 monthly electricity bills.
Carbon taxes are a proven and effective way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and boost innovative solutions for climate change. With cash transfers (the revenue from the carbon tax will be paid out evenly to all U.S. residents) this policy become equitable and fair and low-carbon lifestyles will be rewarded with a net benefit.
In a study, where participants virtually experienced the effects of such a carbon tax, 139 participants supported this petition. 66.4% of all choices (between a Carbon Tax and a No Carbon Tax scenario) were in favor of the carbon tax.
