The only cause of action for which Verity Baptist Church can lose its tax exemption is DISCRIMINATION. It is not because Roger Otoneil Jiminez says horrible and hateful words; it is not for his beliefs, which are ignorant and fear-based and an inaccurate interpretation of the teachings of Jesus Christ. This petition is directed at tax organizations -- and they cannot punish Roger Jimenez for his words -- there is no legal way to revoke Verity Baptist Church's tax exemption for what Roger Jimenez said because, while what he said was sub-human, it did not rise to the level of incitement -- it was just his opinion -- a horrible opinion, but not illegal. The basis upon which Verity Baptist Church's tax exemption can be revoked is narrow; limited to what they do -- and what they do is exclude those who identify as LGBT from joining or attending their church -- and this is de facto DISCRIMINATION. You cannot stop hate and bigotry with legislation or an administrative change -- you can only punish acts of DISCRIMINATION. We need to stay focused...
