As a local student in Huntington, the annual homecoming dance is a tradition I've always looked forward to - a tradition that our school, unfortunately, does not entertain. It's not just about the dance, it's about fostering a sense of unity, camaraderie and school spirit. 

Homecoming dances are a staple in many American schools. According to the National Federation of State High School Associations, Homecoming dances are considered a pivotal aspect of promoting school spirit and community building. They offer a sense of belonging, and create lasting memories for students of their time during high school. Furthermore, they strengthen the sense of community and shared history. 

However, growing up in Huntington, our school experiences lack this traditional fun aspect. We have been deprived of an experience that many teenagers across the country see as a highlight of their high school years. This lack of a Homecoming dance not only means missing out on a fun event, but also missing out on the opportunity to bond with our peers and enhance our school experience.

Therefore, we call upon our local school administration to consider introducing a Homecoming dance. It's time we embrace this tradition and foster a stronger sense of community and school spirit among the students. Our request is simple, let's add a dash of tradition, a sprinkle of fun, and create a memorable high school experience.
