We wanted to share some progress with you. We are overwhelmed to have passed 1000 signatures in under a week. Your voice has been heard by local government. In addition to the support of all 6 local councillors; Ted Leddy, Siobhan Shovlin, Eimear Mangan Carbone, John Walsh, Ruth Coppinger, and Ellen Troy, we also have the support of Senator Emer Currie and Jack Chambers TD. We are meeting each of them as soon as possible.
This week we met with Senator Emer Currie and Cllr Siobhan Shovlin. They are requesting the Council to commence a statutory process to introduce a Special Speed Limit of 50kph per hour on the Porterstown Road. Traffic calming measures like the ones needed on Porterstown Road require a 50kph speed limit.
They have also requested a meeting with the Chief Executive to discuss this step and hope the Council will work positively with them to address much needed changes and safety measures on Porterstown Road. It is their intention that the speed limit would be the first step in making the road safer with traffic calming measures to follow.
Let’s keep making ourselves heard. Continue to share this petition and ask your local representatives what they are doing to support it. We need traffic calming urgently.
