We had an AMAZING protest march on Saturday. Thank you very, very much to everyone who came! Another car crashed into another shop on Portway less than 2 hours after the march. We knew it would happen again- and it did.
Newham Council have agreed that Traffic Calming is an urgent requirement on Portway!🎉🎉🎉
I was invited to meet Cllr Susan Masters (the cabinet member for Adults, Health and Environment), an officer from the Highways Department and Cllr Kwarteng for a walk along Portway to discuss the engineering proposals. We are going to get traffic calming along the entire length of Portway. Although the plans have yet to be quality assured and fully finalised, I was told that the costings were done and funding secured. Work will begin by April 2027.
This is exactly what we wanted. A fantastic effort from our Portway Community!!!
