Our peaceful community on Princes Park Lane has been plagued by the frightening and hazardous issue of speeding vehicles. Several instances of 'near misses' have occurred on our road, so this petition comes from a personal place of concern and urgency. My own experiences of colliding with another vehicle, with my young children present in the car, and witnessing cars crashing into parked vehicles are a testament to the danger we currently face. 

The frequent high-speed traffic turning our residential lane into a 'rat run' is endangering not just motorists but also pedestrians. Further exacerbated by many vans parking close to driveways, views are obstructed, making it perilous for those pulling out and those passing by. We fear for the safety of our families, especially with a school just around the corner where children are at risk.

An installation of speed bumps can be a practical step towards mitigating this risk in our community. Speed bumps have been successfully implemented in similar residential areas to deter speeding and improve safety. According to the World Health Organization, traffic calming measures like speed humps can reduce traffic-related injuries by up to 60% (Global Status Report on Road Safety, 2018).
