Install Speed Bumps on Magnolia Lane and in Wood Estates

Install Speed Bumps on Magnolia Lane and in Wood Estates
The Issue
On Wednesday September 17, 2025 our beloved cat Jasper was hit by a car and left for dead on Magnolia Lane. This heart-wrenching incident has not only caused immense grief for my family, me and our neighbors, but it has also highlighted a severe safety issue that affects everyone in our community. The drivers in our neighborhood often exceed the speed limit, presenting a constant danger to pedestrians, cyclists, children, and our pets.
The roads of Magnolia Lane and Wood Estates have become notorious for speeding cars, making it near impossible to feel safe walking along these paths or crossing the road. The absence of speed-calming measures is a critical oversight that puts every resident at risk, and it's time we take action to prevent future tragedies.
We propose the installation of speed bumps at strategic intervals along Magnolia Lane and through out Wood Estates. Speed bumps have proven effective in reducing vehicle speeds and improving safety in neighborhoods similar to ours. According to the Global Designing Cities Initiative, effective speed control can reduce traffic-related injuries by as much as 60%. Similar strategies have been employed successfully in many towns with marked improvements in resident safety.
The local municipality has the resources and authority to implement these changes, and public support could immensely expedite the process. Collectively, we need to make our voices heard so that the well-being of our community is prioritized.
We, as members of this community, cannot stand idly by while preventable accidents continue to threaten the lives of those we love. By signing this petition, you are taking a critical step toward safeguarding our neighborhood, ensuring peace of mind, and honoring the memory of Jasper, who lost his life due to the negligence of speeding drivers.
