My heart pounds every time I see children playing or wildlife crossing the road in Mt Pleasant Estate, Pakenham. This is not just our home, it is where we raise our families. But what should be a peaceful haven is shadowed by the terrifying speed at which some drivers drive down Rica Road, Sundance Blvd  and Timberland Parkway. 

Just imagine the horror of receiving a call that a child has been struck by a car, or the pain of seeing a beloved pet lifeless by the roadside, or witnessing injured wildlife helplessly trying to escape the road. This isn't just fear; it's reality. There have already been incidents, and I am terrified that someone will be seriously injured soon if immediate action isn't taken.

The solution is simple and proven: install more speed bumps. Speed bumps significantly reduce vehicle speed, thereby decreasing the likelihood of accidents and making roads safer for everyone. A safer road means peace of mind for parents, joyful children, and uninjured wildlife.

We are calling upon the local council and road safety authorities to recognise the urgent need for more speed bumps in our neighbourhood . Let’s turn our growing concern into action. We must protect the families and wildlife that make our community unique.
