In the heart of Evansville, IN, Sunset Park stands as a beloved space where families, friends, and individuals come together to enjoy the great outdoors. However, as the temperatures peak, the lack of shade and water facilities has become a growing concern. With people getting burnt, facing dehydration, and parents feeling uneasy about their children's safety, it's high time for a change. The parks funding department hasn’t made this one of their main concerns and we want to move this to the top of the list.

To address these issues, we are calling on the city to install shaded areas and water stations throughout Sunset Park. These improvements will not only protect park visitors from sunburn and dehydration but also make the park a more inclusive and welcoming place for everyone. By placing shaded picnic tables, awnings over playgrounds, and strategically located water fountains, we can transform Sunset Park into a safe and comfortable haven.
