This initiative could transform hot, empty playgrounds into safe havens for laughter and joy, even in the warmest months.

Evidence from other communities demonstrates the benefits of shading playgrounds. For instance, a study conducted in the City of Phoenix, Arizona demonstrated that shaded playgrounds reduce the surface temperature of equipment by 20-40°F. Implementing similar shading solutions in Utah County parks would ensure children have a safe environment to play, regardless of the time of year.
