The risk of crossing highways is a danger we face daily. Living in Poplars Trailer Park, I have witnessed the horror and tragedy of this risk. Many people, including a child, have been struck and severely injured, or even killed while attempting to cross the highway from the bus stop. We are forced to live in fear every time we, or our loved ones, need to cross this busy highway. Far too many pedestrian deaths are due to inadequate pedestrian facilities. The time has come to make a change. A pedestrian-controlled light at the highway across from Poplars Trailer Park would provide a safe crossing point for the residents of our community. No one should have to risk their life just to cross the street. It is essential that we protect the most vulnerable members of our society and prioritize their safety. Let's make our voices heard and urge the local government to install this life-saving amenity.
