Pigum Walker Park in Wanchese is a popular place for tennis and pickleball, but the courts are currently only usable during daylight hours.

Adding lighting would allow more people to play after work, increase safety, and make better use of an already valuable community space.

Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the United States, and demand for courts continues to rise. Adding lighting would help meet that demand and better serve both residents and visitors.

Other areas of Pigum Walker Park, such as the baseball and softball fields, already have lighting—making this a practical and reasonable improvement.
