Install Lighting and Additional Pickleball Courts at Richard & Meg Weekley Comm. Center

The Issue

To Richard & Meg Weekley Community Center Officials,

As homeowners and active participants in the vibrant pickleball community that gathers at the Richard & Meg Weekley Community Center in Cypress (Towne Lake), TX, we are writing to bring attention to a couple of issues that, if addressed, could vastly elevate the pickleball experience, promote health, and increase safety for our rapidly growing community at the Richard & Meg Weekley Community Center.

Firstly, the absence of lighting at the outdoor pickleball courts poses a challenge, especially during the winter months when the sun sets early. By 5:45 pm, visibility becomes a significant concern, limiting our ability to enjoy the courts in the evening. Given that many community members work until 5 pm, the lack of illumination considerably restricts the available time for pickleball play. We kindly request that the community center consider installing light posts at the courts to allow for extended and safer usage during evening hours.

Secondly, our beloved pickleball community has grown significantly, resulting in longer waiting times due to the limited number of courts available. While we appreciate the existing three courts, the demand during peak hours often leads to extended queues, impacting the overall enjoyment for players. To alleviate this, we propose the addition of three to six more pickleball courts at the community center. This expansion would not only reduce wait times but also accommodate the growing number of enthusiasts who regularly participate in this engaging sport.

We believe that addressing these concerns will not only enhance the pickleball experience for current players but also contribute to the overall well-being of our community. The Richard & Meg Weekley Community Center has become a central hub for residents, and these improvements would further solidify its role in promoting healthy, active lifestyles.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to hearing about any plans or developments regarding these matters.

Best Regards,

Cypress Towne Lake Residents and its Pickleball Community
