The Issue

Menstruation is a natural biological process that affects millions of people worldwide. Yet, for many individuals in Visalia, access to essential menstrual products remains a challenge.

In Visalia, many public restrooms do not provide free menstrual products, leaving low-income community members and people experiencing homelessness without essential support. Access to pads and tampons is a basic health and dignity issue. Providing free products in public restrooms ensures that everyone, regardless of financial status, can manage their period safely and with dignity.

To make this happen, we're asking the City of Visalia to implement a policy that mandates the installation of free menstrual product dispensers in public restrooms throughout the city. This initiative should be implemented in essential community locations such as city parks, government buildings, and downtown areas. This proposal can be funded through existing public health or facilities maintenance budgets, small reallocations within the City of Visalia’s annual budget, or partnerships with local organizations and community sponsors.

Join me in ensuring that no one in Visalia has to experience the embarrassment and discomfort of not having menstrual products when they need them most. Sign this petition today to push for change and support the installation of menstrual product dispensers in public restrooms across Visalia.

The council is reviewing the request. Several locations sites are not in the city’s jurisdiction. I have informed the applicant. We are in the middle of budget preparation so I would not expect anything until after June.
