We, the concerned parents, educators, and community members of Whitley County, call on the Board of School Trustees to mandate and fund the installation of video and audio recording equipment in all special needs and self-contained classrooms within our district.
Our most vulnerable students often face complex communication barriers. They may be entirely non-verbal or physically unable to fully report their daily experiences, triumphs, or distress. Ensuring their safety, dignity, and proper care requires a higher standard of transparency.

Cameras in these learning environments protect everyone involved:
For Students: They provide a vital layer of safety and give families peace of mind knowing their children are protected.
For Educators: They serve as an objective record that protects dedicated teachers and aides from false allegations. 

This measure is not about a lack of trust; it is about building a proactive culture of accountability and safety. Several states and districts nationwide have successfully implemented these policies while strictly maintaining student privacy through regulated access to footage. 

We urge the Whitley County Consolidated Schools administration to research funding options, establish clear privacy guidelines, and implement this security measure immediately.
