Install Baby Changing Stations in All Restaurant Restrooms, Both Men's and Women's

The Issue

As parents, we know the struggles of caregiving, even to the simple task of changing a baby's diaper. It should be a given: walk into a restaurant restroom, and you find a changing station. But, too often, we're finding ourselves in a predicament - a restrooms devoid of a necessary amenity. This directly impacts children's health and parents peace of mind.  Numerous studies show that changing a baby on unsafe or unhygienic surfaces can significantly increase the chances of infections (Source: American Journal of Public Health). According to the 2022 Census in Wichita, Kansas, of the children under the age of 18, 29.5% of them were under 6 years of age. Roughly 13,000 of those children are 3 years and below, they should have access to a diaper changing station in any restroom, regardless of being a restaurant or any other public place. In America, where over 3.7 million births are recorded each year (Source: CDC), why are we not making baby changing facilities a standard in both men's and women's restrooms?

There is not a parent that doesn't have a "no changing table" story. This has been an issue for years. On Reddit, 6 years ago, a dad was needing to change his child and the establishment that he went to didn't have a changing station. He proceeded to change his child out in the lobby on a table. An employee asked him where his wife was, because there was a changing station in the women's room. Fathers can change diapers too!

Let's push for change. We demand that all restaurants be required to install baby changing stations in all restrooms, regardless of gender. This is not just about being accommodating. It's about equality, safety, and basic hygiene. It's time to make parenting a little less stressful, one changing station at a time. Please sign this petition and make a difference.
