We, the residents and supporters of the Watnall Road area, are urging local authorities to install a zebra crossing near Harts Chemist, including the surrounding local shops, the butchers, and the Green Dragon pub.

This stretch of Watnall Road is a busy community hub, visited daily by children, older people, families, and those with limited mobility. Despite its importance, there is currently no safe crossing point, leaving pedestrians to take risks amid fast-moving traffic and limited visibility due to parked cars.

A zebra crossing would:

Ensure safe pedestrian access to essential local businesses and services
Reduce the risk of accidents
Support independent travel for vulnerable residents
Encourage walking and ease local congestion
Help local businesses like Harts Chemist, the butchers, and the Green Dragon pub by improving accessibility

Residents have reported several near-misses, and it’s only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt. We shouldn’t wait for tragedy to take action.
