The Issue

The intersection at S. 99th Ave. and W. Broadway Rd. in our community has become increasingly hazardous for both drivers and pedestrians. As residents and commuters in this area, we urge the local government and transportation authorities to install a traffic signal to ensure the safety and well-being of all who navigate this busy crossroad.

Every day, thousands of vehicles and many pedestrians pass through this intersection, yet without a traffic signal, the risk of accidents remains alarmingly high. From April 2022 through April 2026 the number of accidents with injuries is 54, and accidents without injuries are 115. This not only poses a significant threat to public safety but also creates anxiety for those traveling through it.

Furthermore, with the continuous growth of our community, the volume of traffic is only expected to increase. By taking proactive measures now, we can prevent future accidents and save lives. A traffic signal will not only regulate the flow of vehicles but will also provide a safer crossing for pedestrians, including children walking to school and seniors.

We call upon the Phoenix city council district 7, and relevant local authorities to prioritize the installation of a traffic signal at S. 99th Ave. and W. Broadway Rd. This vital infrastructure change is necessary for the protection and safety of everyone in our vibrant and growing community.
