Update on Petition for Babcock Street Intersection Safety Improvements

Dear Petition Signers,

 I wanted to provide an important update regarding our ongoing efforts to improve the safety of the Babcock Street intersection.

Tragically, in recent days, there have been more accidents at this intersection, including a fatality. This is just another indicator of the urgent need for our community to come together and support the installation of a traffic signal at this dangerous location.

Your support is crucial. We need to continue gathering signatures to demonstrate the overwhelming concern from our community and to ensure that this issue receives the attention it deserves from all relevant authorities.

The traffic signal at this intersection must become a priority for Brevard County, the City of Palm Bay, and the Town of Grant Valkaria. I am pleased to share that recent meeting minutes from the Town of Grant Valkaria indicate they are setting aside funding to help pay for the traffic signal. However, we now need Brevard County and Palm Bay to collaborate and allocate the necessary funding as well.

The City of Palm Bay has already completed a study regarding this intersection, highlighting the need for a traffic signal. It is imperative that all three municipalities prioritize this project to prevent further tragedies.
