Install a Traffic Light at Mizner's Preserve Community Entrance

The Issue

I am a resident of the Mizner's Preserve community, a place where I and my family live and spend our everyday lives. My mother also lives here, and it's a community that we love and cherish. Our concern, however, lies in the growing danger that we face every day on our roads. The traffic on Jog Road, specifically at the intersection coming out of our community, has become alarmingly high and increasingly dangerous. There has been a recorded traffic fatality at this intersection, a tragedy that exposed the gravity of the situation.

Jog Road, 20 years ago, was a quieter road. It has drastically changed as the population of South Florida has grown. According to recent statistics, South Florida’s population has seen a significant increase, with millions moving into the area over the past two decades. The once calm road now resembles a highway, with traffic resembling that of I-95 during peak hours. This increase in traffic has made it exceedingly dangerous, particularly when trying to turn out of the neighborhood. For many residents, it can take up to 15 minutes to safely exit onto the road, and every time, it feels like dodging potential danger.

The absence of a traffic light at this critical point has turned the intersection into a major hazard for everyone who uses it. This is no longer simply about easing traffic congestion; this is about saving lives, protecting families, and ensuring the safety of all who live here.

The installation of a traffic light at this intersection is now an urgent necessity. It is essential to control the dangerously high traffic flow and improve safety for all road users. We call on the relevant authorities to acknowledge the seriousness of this situation and take immediate action. A traffic light is not a luxury; it is a crucial step in reducing the risk of accidents and protecting the lives of our community members.
