Maria Lorts Sachs is a Democratic politician and lawyer from Florida with a distinguished career in public service. She served as a member of the Florida Senate from 2010 to 2016, representing parts of Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Before her tenure in the Senate, Sachs was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2006, where she represented southern Palm Beach County for two terms. After her Florida Senate district was redistricted in 2016, she became the executive director of Innovation Florida, a nonprofit advocacy organization. Sachs has also served as a Commissioner for District 5 in Palm Beach County. Additionally, she has been an associate professor of International Politics at the University of Maryland and a law partner at Sachs, Augspurger & White, P.A. She began her career as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County.
