We’ve officially surpassed 1,000 signatures — a huge milestone, Your voices are making a difference, and it’s clear that this community is deeply committed to the safety and wellbeing of newborn infants.
That said, I’ve had the chance to connect with Mayor Josh Morgan’s office, and they’ve expressed support for our efforts. However, they emphasized that since this issue is primarily related to healthcare services, it should be directed to hospital representatives and provincial government officials.
In other Canadian provinces, Safe Haven Baby Boxes were implemented through partnerships between local governments and healthcare systems, and it seems the Mayor would be happy to lend his support once those key sectors are involved.
Now, we need your help more than ever to push this cause forward! If we want to see change in London and across the country, we need to email the officials who have the power to make this happen. I’ve already reached out to everyone on the list below but have been waiting to hear back since I started the petition a week ago.
If more people reach out to these officials, we could make this happen.
Here’s how you can make an impact:
• London Mayor Josh Morgan: mayor@london.ca
• Premier Doug Ford: https://correspondence.premier.gov.on.ca/EN/feedback/default.aspx
• The MPP for your riding: https://www.ola.org/en/members/current#views-exposed-form-current-members-current-members-grid
• Health Minister: hcminister.ministresc@hc-sc.gc.ca
• Ontario Health: info@ontariohealth.ca
• London Health Sciences Center: maito:media@lhsc.on.ca
• St.Joesph's Hospital: comdept@sjhc.london.on.ca
Thank you again so much for your support, and for believing in this cause.
I hope you all have a great long weekend.
