Install a playground at Dairyland Park

Install a playground at Dairyland Park
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents and families of Eastvale, respectfully request that the Jurupa Community Services District prioritize the installation of a neighborhood playground at Dairyland Park.
Dairyland Park is a beautiful and inviting community space, yet it remains the only JCSD park without a playground. While many nearby parks provide playgrounds and family recreation amenities, families living near Dairyland Park are left without a safe, walkable place for young children to play.
For families like ours, this is more than an inconvenience. My wife does not have a license, cannot drive, and because I travel frequently for work and do not work from home, our two-year-old daughter sadly spends most of her weekdays indoors. Dairyland Park is the only park within walking distance of our home, yet we must drive elsewhere just for basic playground access. What should be a simple neighborhood activity becomes difficult and unsustainable for many local families.
We recognize and appreciate that Dairyland Park recently received improvements to its splash pad area. However, the splash pad is only open seasonally and is not practical during many weather and temperature conditions throughout the year. Unlike a playground, a splash pad cannot provide consistent, year-round recreation for toddlers and young children. Families in this neighborhood still lack access to a basic playground amenity that is available at every other JCSD park.
Outdoor play is essential to childhood development, supporting physical health, creativity, confidence, and social interaction. Multiple studies have shown that playgrounds help children develop critical cognitive, emotional, and social skills. Every child in our community deserves access to these opportunities close to home.
The Jurupa Community Services District has done a commendable job creating family-friendly parks throughout the community. We simply ask that Dairyland Park receive the same consideration and investment that most other JCSD parks already provide.
Adding even a modest playground at Dairyland Park would:
• Provide safe, walkable recreation for local children and families
• Improve accessibility for households without reliable transportation
• Encourage healthy outdoor activity and childhood development
• Increase positive community use of the park
• Create more opportunities for neighbors and families to connect
• Bring Dairyland Park in line with the majority of JCSD neighborhood parks
We also encourage JCSD to prioritize modern, safe, and accessible playground surfacing materials as part of this project. Rather than traditional wood chips or sand, we ask that the playground include rubberized safety surfacing similar to many of the newer JCSD parks and playgrounds already used by families throughout the community.
Rubberized surfacing provides important accessibility and safety benefits for toddlers, young children, strollers, and families with mobility needs. It also helps reduce injuries from falls, improves cleanliness and maintenance, and creates a more inclusive environment for all families in the community.
We are not requesting a massive redevelopment project or destination park. A small neighborhood playground with safe, modern equipment and surfacing would make a meaningful difference for countless local families.
We respectfully ask JCSD leadership and board members to evaluate, fund, and prioritize the addition of a playground at Dairyland Park. Whether through existing parks funding, grants, partnerships, sponsorships, or future improvement plans, we believe this is an achievable investment that would benefit the community for years to come.
Please sign this petition to support local families and help create a more connected, accessible, and family-friendly neighborhood for the residents of Jurupa Valley.
Thank you for your support.
