The Issue

PUT A CROSSWALK ON N.MAY AVENUE AT NW 42ND STREET in OKLAHOMA CITY at the Sam's Club gas station entrance/exit!

There is no marked east–west pedestrian crosswalk for 10 full city blocks! Yet dozens of people cross May Avenue at this location every single day.

Incomplete pedestrian infrastructure of sidewalks!

They don't need to cross here someday. They DO cross here. Every day!  A long-standing pedestrian funnel from Dulaney Park leads directly into the Sam’s Club gas station parking lot, naturally directing pedestrians toward May Avenue from both directions linking two neigboorhoods: Mayfair Heights and Mayfair West in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.. This is an established route that people have been using for years.

They cross May Avenue to reach Sam’s Club, the gas station, nearby businesses, apartments, hotels, residential areas, and bus stops. There is no safe, marked place for them to cross. This is not a hypothetical safety concern. Someone has already lost their life.

The pedestrians are here.
The pedestrian route is here.
The traffic is here.
And the danger is real.

We are asking for a clearly marked pedestrian crossing on  North May Avenue  in OKC near NW 42nd Street, in front of the Sam’s Club gas station!  A traffic light? Anything!! Ten full city blocks that have such heavy pedestrian foot traffic without an east–west crosswalk is unacceptable.

We should not have to wait for another person to be killed before providing a safe place to cross.

SIGN THE PETITION
Ten blocks is too far.
People are already crossing.
Someone has already died.

PUT IN THE CROSSWALK.
