Recently Network Rail announced that they have introduced a new digital notifications system to notify people living near railway lines about upcoming engineering works. We think Network Rail should go a step further and introduce notifications for people waiting at level crossings because of a downtime. This will help commuters to make informed choices about whether to wait in the queue or whether to turn around and make their journey via a different route.
