Dear Instagram/Meta Team,  

We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the recent wave of mistaken bans that have unfairly targeted hundreds of thousands of innocent users. Your AI moderation system has falsely accused countless accounts of violating child safety policies, resulting in wrongful suspensions, disabled accounts, and even permanent bans, despite users having done nothing wrong.  

While we fully support efforts to combat child exploitation and keep Instagram safe, the current AI-driven enforcement is clearly flawed. Many users, including parents, artists, educators, and everyday people are being falsely flagged, losing access to their accounts, memories, businesses, and communities without recourse. 

We Demand That Instagram/Meta:

1. Immediately Review & Reverse all wrongful bans related to this AI error.  

2. Improve Transparency by providing clear explanations when an account is flagged, including which content triggered the ban.  

3. Strengthen Human Oversight to prevent AI mistakes from unfairly penalizing users.  

4. Offer a Real Appeals Process that doesn’t rely solely on automated responses.  

This wave of false bans has caused immense distress, lost income for creators, and eroded trust in Instagram’s moderation system. No one disputes the importance of child safety, but when innocent users are caught in the crossfire, the system must be fixed.
