District 2 in Iredell County has been deprived of representation for almost five long months. This absence of representation means our schools are left without a voice, our budgets are not advocated for, and most concerning, our children are not represented in crucial decisions such as the ongoing redistricting process. As residents, we are reminded of fundamental principles of democracy, like no taxation without representation, yet find ourselves stand against it.

Our District has a perfectly legal nominee (Matthew Youngblood) ready to serve, yet the Iredell Statesville School Board acting chair refuses to seat them. Instead, they are attempting to bypass the law by nominating their own candidate, ignoring the legitimate choice of the people. This is not just an affront to the people of District 2, but a broader issue of maintaining power unjustly.

The need for representation is more pressing than ever. With ongoing changes and challenges, especially in educational settings, every district deserves a seat at the table. This is a call for immediate action.

We urge the Iredell Statesville School Board to honor democratic principles and the choice of its constituents.
