The Issue

I fondly remember visiting Cordova in the 90s, a bustling town that was clean, fresh, and new. It was a place I fell in love with and decided to make my home in 2004. However, since the annexation of Cordova by Memphis in 2012, our once thriving community has been on a downward spiral.

Cordova has experienced an alarming increase in crime rates and a significant drop in home values. Our education system is suffering with poor rankings while essential services are unable to meet our needs. The once vibrant Wolfchase Mall is now just another symbol of decay like our pothole-ridden roads.

The annexation was driven by greed for tax revenue from Wolfchase and Germantown Parkway rather than genuine concern for the welfare of Cordova's residents. This lack of focus on our needs from Memphis is evident as we watch our beloved town deteriorate into what's now derogatorily referred to as "Dirty Dova".

We cannot stand idly by while this continues to happen. We believe that de-annexing from Memphis will allow us to regain control over local issues affecting us directly such as crime prevention, education quality improvement, infrastructure maintenance among others.

It's time we reclaim Cordova's former glory not just for ourselves but also for future generations who deserve better than what they're currently inheriting. Let's start the process of de-annexing Cordova from Memphis so we can form our own municipality focused on restoring safety, prosperity and pride back into our community.

Please sign this petition if you believe it’s time for change - let’s give back control to the people who truly care about Cordova!
