Petition updatePardon an innocent man“We are waiting to hear back”: Accountability

Yesterday, BuzzFeed published an article which, for the first time, puts Indiana gubernatorial candidate John Gregg, Democrat, on the public record pledging to pardon Keith Cooper. On the other hand, from the BuzzFeed article: “BuzzFeed News reached out to Gregg’s Republican opponent in the 2016 governor’s race, Eric Holcomb, asking if he would pardon Cooper if elected. We’re waiting to hear back.” I do not know why, other than political cowardice, Eric Holcomb would find it difficult to pledge to pardon Cooper. It might be that he supports Pence’s position here. If so, he should say so. Then, the question for Holcomb becomes the same one Pence should have to answer: Would he pardon Cooper if he does exhaust all judicial remedies? And if he would, why would he not do it at first? Pence’s position is illogical, and if Holcomb follows the same flawed logic, we need to know. I do not have a phone number for Eric Holcomb’s campaign, and if anyone finds one, pass it on to us. But I do have this contact information: Office phone number: 317-232-4545 Office email at this link: http://www.in.gov/lg/2333.htm Campaign Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/HolcombForIndiana/ Campaign email link:https://action.holcombforindiana.com/comment/contact-us_20160830/?_ga=1.128379468.1924021185.1472068066 Have at it. A few other strategies: Please continue to sign and share the petition to Elaine Quijano, asking her to question Pence about the pardon during next Tuesday’s debate: https://www.change.org/p/elaine-quijano-ask-pence-about-a-pardon-for-keith-cooper. I think the debate is currently our best opportunity to expose this injustice against Keith Cooper nationally, so share this new petition and remember to tweet your support to @Elaine_Quijano. And there’s no need to leave anything to chance: tweet @timkaine and @CBSNews as well. And you may tweet them all the BuzzFeed article too. I think for right now, we can relax on calling the office of Governor Pence and the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office. We may want to resume those strategies in the future, but let’s see what the debate produces from Pence. And for those who are not Indiana residents, the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office is currently dealing with a high profile murder investigation, and we can back off a bit while that dominates the regional news. Curtis Hill will remain a target of our efforts, but for this weekend, let’s focus on getting a commitment or an answer from Eric Holcomb to pardon Keith Cooper, and let’s get the question asked at the debate. Thank you all for all that you are doing. Jack Heller
