Let's Save Ganges Shark

The Issue

Ganges shark of India are critically endangered species and very less in number. These were considered to be extinct after  2005 as there was no sighting but then it was spotted at local fish market, obviously dead, in 2018 by Mr Evan Nazareth. It is one of the rare freshwater shark, unique to India but unfortunately ,victim of overutilization of Ganga and habitat destruction. It is an apex predator but in turn falling prey to our civilization. These species needs to be conserved as it has poor adaptability to other habitats. At present their number is presumably less than 100 and if no action taken , very soon one more nature's fascinating species will be added to the list of "EXTINCT". This poor animal is not even a threat to humans as by habit these are limited to river bed and do not attack humans but are killed pre-emptively, confusing it with bull sharks . Until an active effort is made to conserve them, India will lose one more species unique to its water . I strongly recommend and request  everyone to raise their voice to save this creature of God .
