I am a single mother and a schoolteacher, writing this with a trembling heart but unshakable hope.

In December 2023, I lost my only daughter to a manipulative cult that brainwashed her in the name of spirituality. These people isolated her, filled her mind with false promises of divine missions and utopia, and turned her against her family, education, and identity.

She was just 18.

Despite all efforts, I discovered one heartbreaking truth: India has no legal framework to protect our children and families from cults and psychological coercion. I am not the only one — hundreds of families across India suffer in silence.

This petition is my voice, but it’s also a cry for help for every mother, father, child, and loved one caught in this darkness. I am requesting urgent action from the Indian Government to make laws that regulate and restrict cult-like organizations and protect vulnerable minds.

What We’re Demanding:

1. Laws to identify and regulate cults operating under the guise of spiritual or self-help groups.
2. Legal recognition of psychological coercion and indoctrination as forms of abuse and captivity.
3. A national task force or agency to monitor such organizations, like the MIVILUDES in France or laws in Japan and the U.S.
4. Protection and recovery mechanisms for victims and families — including counselling, legal help, and shelter.
5. Special safeguards for minors and women, who are often the primary targets of such manipulative groups.

Why This Matters:

This is not about religion. It’s not about belief. It’s about the misuse of faith to control minds, break families, exploit women, and destroy futures — without consequences.

If we don’t act now, more children will be lost to cults. More mothers will cry in silence. And more lives will be manipulated beyond recognition.
