On January 26, our community showed up clearly and in good faith: a petition signed by over 150 parents and community members was formally presented to the School Board, three community members spoke publicly calling for non-renewal, and 26 written comments echoed those concerns. Since that meeting, there has been no confirmation that this input was considered in the principal’s contract renewal decision and no  interim plan to address ongoing safety and stability issues while Legal investigates. MMSD Legal Services has confirmed they are investigating four areas of our complaint.  District leadership has verbally stated they are working on a response to our request for an interim plan.

We made clear to them that the silence to date has been deeply troubling and has left many families feeling unheard and excluded from decisions that directly affect their children and school community.

We have serious questions about whether the Superintendent’s office allowed Principal Stein’s contract to auto-renew rather than initiating the non-renewal process governed by state law. Because that is a personnel matter, we do not expect clarity on that anytime soon.
