Independence, Systematic Self-Governance for Indigenous People and People of Color

Independence, Systematic Self-Governance for Indigenous People and People of Color
The Issue
As a person of color with direct lineage to the original inhabitants of the south east region of what is known as today as the United States before the colonization of the first thirteen British colonies that first declared independence to form what is now known as the United States, I find it important to address a matter that has been neglected for far too long. I have been entrusted with land that was inherited from the first Native American wars on U.S. soil, this land and its legacy represents our struggle, resilience, and fight for self-governance. The time has come for all people of color, including Indigenous African-Americans and those with tribal affiliations across the globe to acknowledge and exercise our birthright to declare independence from local U.S. government municipalities and laws that government citizens and decelering that we are free and independent to fund our own economy system provide medical care insurance education and police our housing development or communities by private security firms and fraternal orders of police while still maintaining our broader allegiance to the United States government.
This is a call for us to pledge our solidarity and form a fraternal order of police, sheriffs landlords, farmers, and insurance producers amongst ourselves, to fuel our own economic system establish our own court and justice systems and nurture our own prosperity. By doing this, we are not trying to alienate ourselves, but instead build a stronger foundation that supports our distinct identity within the framework of the United States. A study conducted by the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) affirms that tribal sovereignty and self-governance lead to a better allocation of resources and promote self-sufficiency, resulting in improved economic and social outcomes in tribal communities.
In the spirit of independence, freedom, and equality that this country was built upon, we respectfully urge the United States government to recognize and support our bid for systematic autonomy. Let this serve as a testament that we, the Indigenous tribes and communities of color, are not simply remnants of history; we are dynamic societies with unique cultures, beliefs, and traditions that deserve our rightful place in this nation's present and future fabric. We urge you to sign this petition, supporting the declaration of our independence while sustaining a unified United States.
