The Issue

**Personal Story:**
I am a 16-year-old female student who recently experienced a distressing incident on the metro. I was returning home from my coaching centre in the middle of the day, and the metro was decently full. Alarmingly, I caught two guys, around 23 years old, clicking pictures of me without my consent. This was not just an invasion of my privacy but a form of harassment. Sadly, this is not an isolated incident; many of my fellow females endure similar forms of sexual harassment daily on public transport.

**The Problem:**
Currently, Namma Metro provides only one women-only compartment, and this is located at the end of the metro train. This limited provision fails to accommodate the daily influx of female passengers, creating unsafe environments where harassment occurs regularly. Women, from schoolgirls to senior citizens, facing these encounters is a problem that needs an urgent solution. Public transport is crucial for daily commuting, and fear should not be a companion on these journeys. There must be an increase in security in metro premises.. increament in emergency buttons and immediate action of polices inside the metro..not every female wud be travelling in woman compartment...for those in general if anything harrassment hapens then there must be an immediate solution to it and the person must be held accountable for the mistake

**The Ask for Change:**
We are calling on the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to increase the number of women-only coaches in each Namma Metro train and consider reallocating these coaches to more strategic positions. Women need to have access to safer spaces within the metro that are conveniently located.

**Actionable Solutions:**
1. Add at least two women-only coaches per train to ensure better safety and accessibility.
2. Position women-only coaches closer to the front or the middle of the train for convenience.
3. Implement stricter surveillance and security measures to protect women against harassment.
4. Consider user feedback to continually improve safety protocols.

**Statistics and Evidence:**
Research indicates that women globally face significant harassment challenges on public transport, affecting their freedom and mobility. Local studies in Bangalore have highlighted these issues, demonstrating an urgent need for more protective measures for female travelers.

**Final Appeal:**
Public transport should provide safe, respectable, and dignified travel for all its users. By signing this petition, you stand in solidarity with women who have faced harassment and support safer travel for women in Bangalore. Let us work together to make Namma Metro a secure and welcoming space for every woman. Please sign and help us drive this change.
