Dear Petitioners-

We now have almost 1,000 petitioners, a number that should get some real attention from our lawmakers! Let's keep this number growing!

We have heard that TxDot has agreed to install rumble strips as one measure to calm traffic in the more “popular” curvy sections and discourage racing. The installation is targeted for this week.

Thank you to Rep Vicki Goodwin and CM Marc Duchen for taking action to address our concerns.

As I updated previously, there has been a proposal to enhance the existing city noise ordinance. The ordinance was reviewed at a public safety committee meeting on 2FEB, and was approved to move forward for full council review on 26FEB2026 at 10 am!

We still need your support for the amended sound ordinance to help address racing and noise on 2222.

Please consider emailing City Council with a personal letter (see below suggestion) AND / OR testifying via telephone or in person at 10 am at the Feb. 26 City Council meeting, 301 W. Second Street.
If you plan to attend in person, park in the City Hall garage and get free parking with ticket validation in the lobby. Speaker registration opens at 10 am on Monday, Feb. 23 and sign-up instructions are here. https://www.austintexas.gov/services/participate-city-council-meeting

Enough Is Enough: Support Vehicle Noise Agenda Item 38 on 2/26 Agenda

Dear Mayor and City Council Members,

I’m writing to urge you to support Agenda Item 38, the proposed ordinance to address excessive vehicle engine noise and create an enforceable offense for unreasonable revving.

For at least five years, loud engine noise, racing, and constant revving at all hours of the day, have negatively impacted my family and neighborhood. The issue continues to worsen.
This is not just an annoyance, it is characteristic of reckless driving that is threatening public safety.

Please vote yes on Agenda Item 38 and help restore peace and safety to our neighborhoods.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Thanks so much for your support of this issue that is so important to the quality of life in our community!
