Uncle Sammy is dear to us. Known and respected across Austin, TX, he has been loyally serving and contributing to our community for years in his role, which is loved by so many of us. Yet, it's high time we acknowledge that his current wage does not reflect his dedication and hard-earned expertise. In Austin, the living costs have seen a significant increase over the years, almost 49.27% between 2000 and 2020 (source: Bureau of Labor Statistics, CPI report).

Despite this, wages for his role haven't kept pace with these changing times. Uncle Sammy, like many dedicated workers in our community, should not struggle to live comfortably. This issue does not resonate only with us, his family, but it stands as a representation of a bigger problem affecting many others in similar positions.
