As a solar panel owner, I am deeply affected by the current disparity in our system. For each unit of energy, I receive a mere 6 cents, while energy companies resell the same power at a considerably higher rate. This inequity not only affects me but also countless others who are utilising solar energy to contribute vital resources to the grid, and helping to promote a sustainable future. It is unacceptable that the benefits are not being fairly distributed; this needs to change.

The call is clear: we need an increase in the feed-in tariff rates, in line with the cost of living. With such a revision, countless households would benefit, including renters as well as homeowners. Associated with this, we also urge the government to consider repealing the solar tax imposed on households with solar panels. Energy efficiency should be rewarded, not penalised.

According to SolarPowerEurope, "as of 2020, the global solar capacity is at 652 GW, delivering 3% of global electricity demand". Yet, most solar panel owners are not receiving the remuneration they deserve. This issue needs immediate attention.
