The Issue

My name is Jocelyn Jackson. My big brother, John Evers Robinson, was murdered over three decades ago in New Haven, CT. He was known as Rokked to his friends and was a founder of the punk band Sold on Murder. The NHPD investigated the case in 1990 and 2009 and most recently in 2022 when I discovered new evidence that was shared with the NHPD via the FBI. There have been no updates since November 2024. I FOIA requested all case files and received only the first investigation. (UPDATE 12/29/25: confirmed case is still “active”.)

I’ve researched and collected as much FOIA information as possible and talked to several investigators to learn as much as I can about my brother’s case. The consensus is that my brother knew his killer(s). As an abolitionist I believe in restorative justice and lifelong accountability for this crime.

John’s father passed away the day before John’s death anniversary last year. Our mom holds the possibility of justice in her heart and wants John’s life, death, and legacy to be honored by releasing these documents or increasing the award for new leads that could finally get us answers.

Please sign and share this petition so that:

  • If the NHPD has exhausted all leads, it encourages the NHPD to release the case files to his forever grieving family and the public.

  • If the NHPD is still actively investigating, it motivates the CT State’s Attorney to raise the award for additional leads. Now that witnesses and persons of interest are in their 50’s and 60’s we hope they can find the courage to come forward.
