Increase STATE Funding to have Safe Schools in the NWLSD

Increase STATE Funding to have Safe Schools in the NWLSD
The Issue
State authorities have recently reduced the funding for building needs for school districts from 45% to just 22%, including for the Northwest Local School District. This will cost residents of Colerain Township (serving a very high percentage of impoverished students) residents and surrounding areas an extra $100M, relative to its Master Facility Plan. Our residents can NOT afford this, particularly with the significant increase in property taxes already.
We appreciate the state officers (Senator Blessing, Representative Abrams, Joy Bledsoe OJCC, & Gov DeWine) recognizing the emergency needs of our student body, understanding our financial limitations as a community (much like the school districts in Middletown and Chillicothe), and the need for SAFE schools. We ask that all decision-makers work diligently to grant the same opportunities afforded to other school districts by reducing the matching funds to 45%.
We urge residents of the NWLSD to sign this petition and add your personal comments directing elected officials to increase funding for the NWLSD to 45% to address emergency facility repairs.
