I am a hardworking American who has grown tired of the empty promises made by politicians in Washington. They claim they want to help the average taxpayer and lower-income families, yet their actions rarely reflect these words. It's time we demand real change that will make a tangible difference in our lives.

The proposal is simple but impactful: raise the standard deduction for a single person to $30,000 per year and the married deduction to $60,000 per year. This adjustment would allow lower-income families to retain more of their hard-earned paychecks and provide them with an opportunity to improve their living conditions.

This isn't about handouts or false promises; it's about fairness and giving every American a chance at achieving the dream that our great nation was built upon. The current standard deductions ($13,850 for singles and $27,700 for married couples filing jointly in 2023) are simply not enough considering today's cost of living and rampant inflation brought on by out of control government spending.

Contrary to popular belief among some politicians, taxing the rich more does not necessarily translate into prosperity for lower-income individuals. Instead of waiting around hoping that wealth will "trickle down," let us empower ourselves by keeping more of what we earn.

The American Dream is alive; it just needs room to breathe without excessive government interference. Let us remind our elected officials that they work for us—the people—and it’s time they start prioritizing policies that benefit all Americans rather than just those at the top.
