As a concerned parent living in Cresskill, NJ, I am deeply worried about the safety of my children due to the escalating tensions and war in Israel. Our community, a vibrant mix of Israeli and Jewish families, is feeling increasingly threatened. We believe that our schools, synagogues and Jewish centers need more robust security measures to protect against potential terrorist threats.

Bergen County is home to one of the largest Jewish populations per capita in the U.S., with over 83,200 Jews comprising about 15% of the total population (American Jewish Year Book). This makes our community an integral part of Bergen County's cultural fabric but also potentially vulnerable.

We are not asking for excessive measures that would disrupt our daily lives or create an atmosphere of fear. Instead, we request increased patrols by local law enforcement during high-risk times such as religious holidays and events. We also propose additional training for existing security personnel at these institutions on how to respond effectively to potential threats.

We understand that this requires resources from our local government but believe it's a necessary step towards ensuring the safety and peace-of-mind for all members of our community.
