The Issue

California produces millions of tons of waste each year, much of which could be recycled or composted instead of ending up in landfills. Unfortunately, many schools and public spaces lack enough clearly labeled and conveniently placed recycling and compost bins, making it difficult for students and community members to dispose of waste responsibly. By installing more recycling and compost bins, we can reduce pollution, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and make it easier for everyone to take part in protecting our environment.

This issue matters to me personally because I care deeply about sustainability and the health of our communities. As a student and member of local clubs that promote service and awareness, I see firsthand how small changes, like adding proper waste bins, can have a big impact. When recycling and composting are easy and accessible, it encourages people, especially students, to develop responsible habits that will last a lifetime. Supporting this petition helps foster a culture of environmental responsibility where everyone can contribute to a cleaner, healthier California.

I am asking people to sign this petition because your voice matters. Together, we can encourage schools and local governments to invest in the infrastructure needed for proper waste management. By signing, you are supporting cleaner campuses, reduced pollution, and a sustainable future for all Californians. Every signature brings us one step closer to making recycling and composting accessible, practical, and part of everyday life.
