Increase Noosa's Boat launching facilities - Upgrade Doonella Boat Ramp
Increase Noosa's Boat launching facilities - Upgrade Doonella Boat Ramp
The issue
It's clear to all users that Noosa's boat ramps do not cope with peak local demand, let alone peak visitor demand. The result is over-crowding and safety issues leading to arguments, abuse and reduced access to our beautiful Noosa River for locals and visitors alike.
Another issue is 'Equity of Access' to the Noosa River for people with limited mobility, we have just one floating walkway at Noosaville for the whole shire for safe boat and river access.
Our boat and trailer registrations have created a Queensland Maritime Investment fund of $185m, in July this year Mackay received $1m for a new Slade Point boat Ramp. Its Noosa's turn to have our Boat Ramps upgraded.
Why are asking for:
- Redesign of the current Doonella Sand Ramp into a modern 2 lane boat ramp, with floating walkway, 25 car trailer parks, rigging bays, wash down lane and fish cleaning station.
- Extend Noosaville ramps floating walkway and move it to the west so boats tied to it don't block the second boat ramp lane.
- New floating walkway at Tewantin ramp for temporary mooring while launching and landing boats.
- Introduce hybrid parking around Noosaville and Tewantin ramps to increase available car trailer parks around those ramps during peak periods.
Thanks for taking the time to consider this important issue for the Noosa community.
