Increase in specialist educational provisions

The Issue

Disabled children are being failed by the education system!

There are campaigns everywhere to recognise hidden disabilities yet when it comes to our children they are completely discriminated against by these so called advocates.

Richard Gardner is a 4year old autistic little boy. It has been stated by medical professionals that a mainstream school setting is not suitable for him. Yet Gloucestershire county council refuse to allocate him a space at a specialist setting. He has siblings with learning difficulties and his mother is now in the situation where she has to home educate him, whilst caring for other disabled children.

This is a huge oversight by the council who fail to take into account the best interest of the child and the family. Out of county care is not an option for this little boy who has no understanding, would not know why he was being put in a taxi and sent away . But also mum dosent get to drop him off and collect him from school due to having children at other settings. What about the detrimental effect on her mental health? She won't get first day at school photos, or first nativity tickets. Because our system refuse to invest in our ever growing specialist education crisis. As a working age adult companies cannot discriminate against disabilities so why is it acceptable for them to as a child?

Every child is entitled to an education. This is a human right! Disabled children don't ask to have a disability so why are they neglected by the system yet mainstream schools pop up everywhere?
