Increase Government Childcare Funding for Parents and Childcarers per Hour

Increase Government Childcare Funding for Parents and Childcarers per Hour
The Issue
I recently began a new chapter in my life as a childminder and, in my quest to provide excellent care for children, I discovered a deep concern. The government's 'free' childcare program is funded at a rate that falls short of what childminders and nurseries rightfully earn per hour. The result? Professionals like myself are essentially subsidizing this scheme, often at the cost of our livelihood.
Childcare providers are vital to our society, enabling parents to work and continue to contribute to the economy. Despite its importance, childcare remains a low paid sector, a circumstance that requires urgent reform. The existing financial structure does not value the essential service we provide, and this could lead to a crisis in availability as providers are forced to close their doors due to financial strains.
We urge the government to reevaluate the current funding situation. The 'free' childcare scheme should be adjusted so that it allows childminders and nurseries to earn their fair hourly wage up to a capped amount. Without this, we risk losing an essential facet of our society that supports the economy and nurtures our future generation.
If you also believe this course must be changed for the sake of our children and those who care for them, please add your name to this petition. By doing so, you'll be supporting countless professionals who are dedicated to providing the best care possible, while also ensuring that childcare remains accessible to those who need it most. Act now - sign the petition and call for a fairer, more equitable approach to funding 'free' childcare.
