Increase Evening Train Services on the Oyster Bay Line

Increase Evening Train Services on the Oyster Bay Line
The Issue
Objective: Increase the evening services on the Oyster Bay line during rush hour.
There are two major issues with the current LIRR service on the Oyster Bay line during evening rush hour.
First, there is only one train per hour, which is extremely inconvenient. If the connecting train is delayed, commuters are left stranded at Jamaica Station, where conditions can become quite uncomfortable, especially during the winter months.
Second, while there is one direct train departing from Penn Station at 6:20 PM, this limited option creates significant inconvenience for commuters. This is especially frustrating given that there are direct trains to Penn Station in the morning, leading to confusion as to why similar service is not provided in the evening.
Like thousands of daily commuters, I take the LIRR to commute to and from work every day. The new commuter tolls have made an already fraught situation worse: trains are now more packed than before. I, along with many others, can routinely only find standing room, even before these tolls took into effect. This problem is particularly severe on the Oyster Bay line from Grand Central/Jamaica during evening rush hour. There is currently only one train servicing the 5pm rush hour, leading to uncomfortable conditions and a stressful end to the workday for thousands of commuters.
This petition calls for the addition of more train times during the evening hours to mitigate these issues. With an increased number of trains, we can ensure a more comfortable and easy commute home. It is not only a matter of comfort, but also of access and equity in public transportation, as thousands rely on these trains for their daily commute.
Please sign this petition to urge our transit authorities to increase train services during rush hour and prioritize the comfort and needs of commuters like us on the Oyster Bay line.
