Inclusion of Environmental Studies into Elementary Schools' Curriculum

Inclusion of Environmental Studies into Elementary Schools' Curriculum
The Issue
Environmental degradation persists because the people do not know better. Simple. If the mind is unaware of what to do, the body will not act. Climate illiteracy continues to charge a great level of inaction within the sustainability sector, and this MUST CHANGE.
The goal is to commence the inclusion of environmental/climate education into the national curriculum of primary and secondary schools in Nigeria, all over Africa and globally. The first phase of this Project will start in Ibadan, Oyo State.
We call on the Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to commit to taking a bolder action on Climate Change by being the first state in Nigeria to include environmental education as a compulsory subject into all primary and secondary schools.
Education plays a vital tole in shaping future generations and its inclusion into the educational system has become a necessity. If established, it will nurture a new generation of environmentally conscious individuals and shape their attitudes towards environmental responsibilities. This subject will equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values required to navigate these complex environmental challenges and foster a sustainable future.
This Petition is driven by 3 Organisations within the sustainability sector striving to make a difference in Africa and globally. They are - The Waste Museum (Founder; Jumoke Olowokere), Planet 3R (Founder; Adejoke Lasisi) and Eco Crew (Founder; Ekemini Yomi-Layinka). These stakeholders were carefully selected by Prince Tunde Odunlade of the Tunde Odunlade Art Gallery, Ibadan Nigeria, to foster and build a stronger environmentally sustainable future.
In today's rapidly evolving world, environmental challenges have become more pronounced than ever before. Climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and resource depletion are all critical issues that demand attention and action.
