Inclusion in Arlington Public Schools

Inclusion in Arlington Public Schools

The Issue

The Arlington Three project has been established to promote the full inclusion of all students with disabilities in classrooms. When students with disabilities are excluded from the general population, the isolation they face enforces in all, including the neurotypical students, the belief that they do not belong.

Studies have found that all students benefit from the inclusion of diverse groups in the classroom, with stronger social and academic outcomes. It also has the added effect of preparing them to live and work inclusively outside of school.

We, the undersigned, support Arlington Public Schools (APS) and the Arlington Three in their commitment to make classrooms inclusive for all students, and we urge APS to commit to a timetable for full inclusion.
