This oversight not only undervalues the hard work of indie animators but also fails to showcase the rich diversity of animated storytelling that exists beyond mainstream productions.

Indie animation offers unique perspectives and pushes the boundaries of traditional storytelling. These creators operate with limited resources yet manage to craft poignant narratives that resonate with audiences globally. We urge the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to allow  independent animation to be recognised on equal footing as as any animated film from the big animation studios. And be evaluated on originality, creativity, and the impact of the storytelling, thereby providing a platform for indie creators to gain the recognition they deserve.

Additionally, we call upon the broader film community to support and promote indie animation, offering mentorship and collaboration opportunities to emerging animators. Highlighting these works can lead to increased viewership and broader acceptance of indie films in the mainstream market.
