Include Free Gear Cleaning In Service Enlistment Contracts
The Issue
Like many of you, I too had struggled with CIF/IIF gear turn in as my End of Active Service date neared. Whether you’re transitioning out of the military or onto your next unit, the checkout process is lengthily and let’s be honest, the dreaded CIF/IIF gear turn in, should be the least of your worries.
The time it takes the average service member to clean and turn in their gear, is (4 days - 2 weeks). You don’t have the time, the resources, or additional funds it would take to purchase supplies, let alone, clean and disinfect the gear properly before passing it on to the next service member.
Your job is to remain mission ready, and stay combat effective. If your service is nearing an end, or you’re transitioning to your next chapter of enlistment, your responsibility should include; transporting the gear you’ve been accountable for, to one of our facilities to have it cleaned & disinfected, ready to pass inspection.
I, Robert Larry Martinez Jr. Propose that the Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS), allow for additional funding for “Tactical Gear Cleaning”, from “All Clear Gear , LLC” in efforts to afford the transitioning service members, the time it takes to complete their checkout process, and the opportunity to focus on the task at hand; becoming leaders and contributing members in society.
Along with freeing up the time and money it would take each service member to clean his/her gear by allowing “All Clear Gear , LLC” to operate on, or near said military instillation, we will have created more jobs for transitioning members who are looking for work, as they fit themselves back into society.
Thank you for your time, and your support.
CEO Rob Martinez, ALL CLEAR GEAR, LLC.
